JUNE JAMBOREE

The Bakers host an annual fund raiser called the June Jamboree for the Friends of the Modoc County Library.  The event is held the last Saturday in June, and the tickets sell out every year.  Tickets go on sale in late April at all branches of the Modoc County Library, or tickets can be ordered by mail by calling (530) 233-6326.  Tickets are only $15.00 with a train ride and $13.00 without a train ride for the entire day, and children under the age of three are free.

This is a fun filled family event that includes live music, demonstrations, a train ride through the gardens, self-guided garden tours, gold-panning, a barbecue, book sale, treasure hunt, train robbery, and a variety of other events.  The event always sells out quickly, so get your tickets early.  The event is alcohol and smoke free.

On this page you will find extensive photographs of library supporters enjoying the first thirteen June Jamboree celebrations. To view the various buildings in the mining town of High Grade, click on the drop down menu buttons titled “Buildings” and “Garden Structures” and pick the one you would like to take a tour through.   The June Jamboree is the only time during the year that the Baker’s 10 Acre Railway Gardens is open to the general public.

Above you will find the “good guys”.

We all know what happens to the “bad guy” in a train robbery.

The California Highway Patrol handed out free bicycle helmets to all the young children attending the June Jamboree

The California State Librarian traveled to Modoc County to check out the June Jamboree so he could see first hand how the Friends of the Modoc County Library raised funds in the community

Children love panning for gold.

Young guests take a break at the Honeymoon Cottage while participating in the children’s treasure hunt.  There is also a Birdhouse Hunt during the June Jamboree.
